Investing.com — President Trump issued an order blocking the acquisition of Jupiter Systems by Suirui International Co., Limited, a Hong Kong company whose majority stake is owned by Suirui Group Co., Ltd. of China.
The U.S. Committee on Foreign Investment (CFIUS) reviewed the transaction under Section 721 of the 1950 Defense Production Act and identified national security risks associated with the deal.
Specifically, CFIUS identified risks stemming from the possibility that Jupiter’s products might be used in military environments and critical infrastructure, according to the notice.
The presidential order requires Suirui to divest all interests and rights in Jupiter Systems, a Delaware‑based company. Additionally, Jupiter is prohibited from holding any interest or right in the assets or operations of any subsidiaries in China that are acquired or established after the transaction completes.
CFIUS’s review process evaluates country‑specific national‑security concerns arising from foreign investment case by case. The committee affirms that their focused mandate demonstrates a commitment to welcoming foreign investment while protecting U.S. national‑security interests.
